Background Location (Critical)
RoadPing collects precise location data even when the app is closed, in the background, or the screen is off. This is essential to provide audio and visual alerts for upcoming hazards while you are driving or using other navigation apps.
Information We Collect
We collect your email and name via Google Sign-In for account management, photos and GPS coordinates when you report road hazards, and non-identifying performance metrics via Firebase Analytics.
How We Share Information & Business Transfers
Hazard coordinates and photos are shared with other users to improve safety. We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing. However, in the event of an acquisition, merger, reorganization, sale of assets, or corporate restructuring, user database records (including profiles, email addresses, and reported hazards) may be transferred to the acquiring entity as part of the business transition.
Data Security & Safeguards
We implement reasonable security safeguards including Row-Level Security (RLS) on Supabase, encrypted transit (HTTPS), and restricted directory access to protect your personal data from unauthorized access or breach.
Your Rights as a Data Principal
In compliance with the DPDP Act, 2023, you have the right to: (a) access a summary of your processed personal data, (b) seek correction, completion, or update of your personal data, (c) request erasure of your data, and (d) access grievance redressal. You can request erasure by using the "Delete Account" button in Settings, which permanently purges your account identity and Google email record from our authentication servers instantly.
Children's Privacy (Under 18)
RoadPing is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect, track, or monitor the personal or background location data of children under 18 without verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian.
Future Advertising & Analytics
We may introduce advertisements in future updates. Third-party ad networks may collect device identifiers (such as Android Advertising ID or iOS IDFA) to serve relevant or non-personalized ads. If advertisements are integrated, we will update this Privacy Policy and request your consent where required by applicable laws.
Changes to Policy
We update this policy periodically. Notifications of significant changes will be posted within the App and updated on this page.
Grievance Redressal & Contact
If you have questions, would like to exercise your rights, or wish to file a complaint, contact our Grievance Officer at support.roadping@gmail.com. We will acknowledge grievances within 36 hours and resolve them within the statutory period.
