Why RoadPing Exists
Bangalore's roads are legendary — not for their smoothness, but for the army of potholes, surprise speed breakers, and flooded craters that appear overnight. After one too many rim-bending encounters, the question became obvious: why can't drivers warn each other?
RoadPing was built to answer that question. Not as a commercial product, not as a startup pitch — but as a genuine solution to a real problem faced by millions of daily commuters.
The Problem
Potholes, flooded roads, and unmarked speed breakers cause thousands of accidents and crores in vehicle damage every year across Indian cities alone.
The Insight
Drivers who've already hit a hazard are the best early-warning system. All they need is a simple way to share that information with drivers 30 seconds behind them.
The Technology
A radar engine using Extended Kalman Filter mathematics — the same algorithm used in aerospace — adapted to predict when a driver is approaching a reported hazard.
The Mission
Build a community where every driver looks out for the next one. No ads, no data selling, no venture capital — just people helping people stay safe.
"The road is used by everyone.— The RoadPing Manifesto
The least we can do is look out for each other."
Sentinel Radar — How It Works
Most hazard apps simply show you a map dot. RoadPing is different — it actively calculates when you are going to arrive at a hazard and fires a voice alert at exactly the right moment.
The Sentinel EKF Radar Engine uses GPS fusion and an Extended Kalman Filter to continuously estimate your position, velocity, and heading. When a reported hazard enters your predicted path, the engine calculates time-to-impact and triggers an alert when you are approximately 40 metres away — enough time to brake comfortably at typical city speeds.
- Audio First: Alerts play over your music or navigation so you never have to look at the screen
- Background Active: Works while your phone is in your pocket or running Google Maps or Waze
- Precision Timing: Tuned to trigger exactly when you need to slow down — not too early, not too late
- Jolt Detection: Accelerometer monitoring auto-suggests a report when a hard impact is detected
Forever Free. Zero Ads. Zero Compromise.
